Independent Art Gallery of New York announces exhibitor list for 2022 –

The Independent Art Gallery has announced 61 galleries will participate in its upcoming edition in New York, which is set to take over Spring Studios in Manhattan from May 5-8.

Several New York galleries are lining up to display their wares at the gallery, including Canada, Mitchell-Innes & Nash, PPOW, Derek Eller Gallery and Ross + Kramer, which made headlines earlier this month when they announced that they own 15 NFTs, worth $2.2 million, were digitally stolen.

Other participating galleries in Los Angeles include Night Gallery, Alison Jacques in London, Brazilian A Gentil Carioca, Corbett vs. Dempsey in Chicago. Sixteen galleries will participate in the exhibition for the first time, including Nina Johnson in Miami, Kristen Kate in Los Angeles, Cassine in New York, Essex Street and Nicolas Fassel Gallery.

This year’s edition marks a return to the fair’s usual number, after the 2021 edition at a different location (Cypriani South Street) had just 40 exhibitors in a more pandemic-friendly iteration. The show dates in May also indicate a departure from the earlier timing around the Armory Show in September. The 2022 fair will coincide with four other fairs – TEFAF New York, NADA, Future Fair and Art on Paper – being held two weeks before Frieze New York.

“Guaranteed to inspire even the most knowledgeable collector, in May The Independent will support the world’s most exciting artists and reveal new discoveries by a range of art galleries,” Elizabeth Dee, the independent foundation, said in an email.
