Star Wars: The Supreme RepublicStar Wars’ biggest selling point has been its place in the Star Wars timeline: The High Republic era exists 200 years before The Skywalker Saga began in phantom danger; At a time when the Jedi Order and Republic were thriving in a time of light, the threat to the Sith Empire was (seemingly) destroyed. But now, by some devious means, star Wars Confirmed that there were indeed a Sith Lord or two currently hiding in the Supreme Republic! The question is: Where are the Dark Lords hiding, and are any character in the franchise that we already know as Sith?
The constant nature of star Wars Canon means we already know that the Sith didn’t quite go out of the galaxy during the High Republic – they just waited for their time in hiding, living by the rule of second. This shift in Sith philosophy (from a sprawling empire to a two-person system of master and apprentice) came at the behest of Darth Bean, the leader of the Sith Empire during its fall and who secretly survived the Jedi-Sith War. Darth Ben and the Jedi-Sith War were a major part of star Wars Expanded universe (now “myths”) lore, but new Disney star Wars The canon has kept the story of the Dark Lord and his existence somewhat mysterious… until now.
the new star Wars Marvel Comic Book #20 tells the story of Luke Skywalker’s attempt to self-train as a Jedi after Empire strikes. Yoda’s holocron leads Luke to a distant Jedi “temple” which is also Vergence’s point of strength – but instead of a temple, Luke finds himself eaten by a living planet. Trapped in the exposed catacombs of Planet Gazian, Luke was able to communicate deeply with the Force and connect with the other Jedi “imprint” that visited the site.
Certain “echo” surfaces to communicate with Luke: the troubled Capricorn figure of the High Republic, Elzar Man. Elzar tells Luke that there have always been different stages in the Jedi Order – from the near-extinct light in the darkness that Luke represents to the bright light of the Jedi High Republic era. Elzar also drops one key star Wars Timeline details: That the glory of the Supreme Republic was won after the Jedi Sith Lord Darth Bane was defeated, eight centuries ago.
It’s simple arithmetic and deductive reasoning so you now know that eight centuries after the Jedi Think Darth the builder is dead and gone, the Sith rule of two is actually alive and well, and is an integral part of the framework of the Supreme Republic. There remains only one question: Where are the Sith hiding? And is he in plain sight (like Elzar Mann himself)?
